Possible First Timer
I have always wanted to see Europe from a River Boat but to this point have restricted myself to Cruises from and to European Ports. I am 60 years old retired male and travel alone. Can anyone tell me if the River Cruises have single cabins without the hurrendous supplements. If they do, are these very very small or would you say they are ok. I dont need to spend a lot of time in my cabin as long as there are places on the boat to sit in comfort and watch the world go by. Any info greatly appreciated.
Most riverboats tend to have smaller cabins, and I dont know of any that have single staterooms.
However - they may have reduced single supplements.
I highly recommend river cruises - especially for single cruisers because the people onboard are very friendly - you will have no problem meeting new people and striking up conversations.

Modern river ships have normally no single cabin
All cabin are double 14 - max 17 m**2
I think for one person there is enought place , so you don't need to seet somewere else.
Different prises see in WEB - there is a lot info
I just returned from the Romantic Danube Viking River Cruise and there were several single cabins on board. Our next door neighbor utilized one of them and it was actually nicer than ours! She had a sliding glass door in her cabin and we only had a large window.
Check out the Viking River Cruise website to see which boats have singles available. I know they just built 2 new ships and I am sure they also have singles.
