New ship similar to the windjammers

There is a new Tall Ship called "MYSTIC" that is similar in "feel" to the Windjammers. She is in New England in the summer, and the Out Islands of the Bahamas in the winter. We sailed on her a couple of times. It's more upscale than the Windjammers, but the price is still good. You can go singly or get a group discount. The crew is great, and you can help as much as you want. If they still have the same chef, WOW! My wife was trading recipes while I was snorkeling with turtles!

I would think twice before booking on this cruise line. We had a private charter paid for in the Bahamas for the week of March 9, 2009. 6 weeks prior to the sailing date, we received notice from Mystic that her winter season sailing schedule had been cancelled.

We did ultimately receive a complete refund of all deposit monies. However, this is not a way to endear passengers for the future.

I would also recommend the Timberwind, out of Porland, Maine, as I recall. My ex and I did a 3-nighter and it was a lo of fun. You could help as much or as little as you wanted. Food and accomodations were fine, a good deal, they stopped at a little island and we steamed mussels on the beach, it was a nice cruise up and down the coast of Maine. That was back in 1992 but they are still in business.

We sailed during a time when Mel Gibson was filming The Man Without A Face and it was being filmed there. We got to watch some of that, which was pretty cool, and I took a number oif photos. Not that I'm a Mel fan. But it WAS a really good movie.

It's been more than a year, I can see, since anyone posted on this thread.

But I haven't been on a cruise since 1992. So I am not exactly up to date on the latest happenings.

Is there any sailing cruise line with the "look and feel" of Windjammer?

Only Windstar, right? But without the whole abandoning passengers and not refunding money thing going on?
