Our last day on Silver Whisper

proof the maids DO vacuum the matresses between voyages

more bedding changes

security is intense

Our guide and armed guard - just in case

more security checkpoints along the way

an ever vigilant guard - this is for EVERYONES safety

We arrive at Karnak - palace of many pharoahs

a line of sphinxes guard the entrance

many sphinxes left and right

our first site of an obelisk - we did not know better ones were to come

we start to enter the gates of Karnak the temple of Ahmen

To the first open area

we start to see the immensity of the statues

a map of the entire spot

different sphinxes guard the inside - bulls with tiny pharoahs

our guide shows us actual statue of tutahnkamen

how they built walls - mud ramps - the only evidence they left

more of the bull sphinxes

statues of pharoahs

and little pharoahs (a queen or prince) at their feet

we move to the inner chamber of columns

hieroglyphics cover everything

even the ceiling pieces 40 feet high in color

every picture tells a story

our first sight of a complete obelisk of solid granite

life-size statue shows immensity of pillars

every inch covered in writing

pictures - symbols - stories of Ahmen the God

the detail of the obelisk

statues line the storeroom of tutankhahmen

more of the clarity of the carvings over 3000 years old!

your host proves he was there

hidden rooms and hallways everywhere

every entrance guarded

the height of the obelisk

statues holding two ahnks loses his head

a broken obelisk - did it break before it was raised or after?
