Gallery: ANTARCTICA EXPEDITION
by: JOE REYNOLDS

This was a cruise aboard the Professor Multanovskiy from Nov. 25 to Dec.1. 2009. We flew out of Punta Arenas on a BAE 146 landing on King George Island at Frei Station Chile. We had already dressed out for cold weather for when we stepped off the plane and we were walking in ice. We boarded the Professor Multanovskiy a 213 foot long vessel that proved to be very seaworthy. We spent five nights visiting various places trying to make two landings a day. There were only 25 of us aboard the 49 passenger capacity ship. It was truly a magnificent adventure. We were delayed one day getting out because of a frozen runway at Frei Station on the Fildes Peninsula of King George Island. Thus we spent 6 nights in Antarctica. We did stand on the mainland of the Antarctica Peninsula at Brown Landing (Argentina) where we had a champagne toast. Booked this trip with Victory Adventures
