Freeport has a lot of beautiful colonial architecture, with many of the homes painted in bright tropical colors. The area still has a lot of heavy pine forest.
The beaches feature powdery white sand. Sunbathers will definitely be satisfied with the beach quality. The water is warm and ideal for swimming at any time. Xanadu Beach is privately-owned, and the most popular one in the area. Peterson Cay is more isolated and good for bird-watching.
Lucayan National Park has underwater limestone caverns worth exploring. Theo's Wreck is the most popular shipwreck in the area, and draws in scuba divers. Natural coral reefs host fish who like to come in for feedings.
Lacayan National Park offers breathtaking scenery, beautiful flowers, and a good look at local wildlife. Rand Memorial Nature Center features hiking trails spanning 100 acres and refreshing pools.
Garden of the Groves is a fascinating property that's part tropical garden, part exotic wildlife sanctuary. A swim with the dolphins park called The Dolphin Experience is located in Freeport for those looking for a truly unique experience.
Horseback rides are a good way to explore the area. Some companies specialize in catamaran rides to prime snorkeling spots.
