Most of the Eastern Caribbean cruises depart from the port cities of Florida; however, a few cruises depart from the East Coast cities of the US, such as New York, Philadelphia and Baltimore. Cruises from these cities are often seasonal and can last longer than the usual voyages. Most of the cruises spend a few days at sea before heading to different destinations.

Major ports that are commonly included in the Eastern Caribbean cruise itineraries include St. Thomas, St. Maarten, San Juan in Puerto Rico, Grand Turk in the Turks and Caicos, the Dominican Republic, Nassau in the Bahamas, and Key West in Florida. Occasionally, Southern Caribbean ports of St. Kitts and Antigua are also included on the Eastern Caribbean itinerary.

Eastern Caribbean islands are blessed with calm and pleasant weather all round the year, which makes it a year-around cruising destination. However, winter is the peak season for Eastern Caribbean cruises. The duration of cruises to Eastern Caribbean varies from 4 to 14 nights. Most of the cruises alternate between the eastern and western tours allowing the tourists to remain on the ship for a 14-night sailing.

While onboard the cruise, one can enjoy the Caribbean cuisine, which is a blend of three different cultures, the British, the French, and the Spanish. Beer and rum are served with lunch and diner.
