When vacationing, most people are looking for rest and relaxation while enjoying beautiful and peaceful surroundings. However, some vacationers might be seeking adventure instead, while immersing themselves in local and historical culture. Why not have both? There is no better way to experience relaxation and adventure than by taking a Caribbean Cruise.

Shopping

The vast islands that make up the Caribbean Islands promote tourism as well as a wide variety of shopping venues in order to sustain a vibrant economy. That is why you can find virtually anything imaginable for astonishingly low prices and often at duty free rates. The Islands were once known for the availability of high-end merchandise at a low cost; however, more and more visitors have begun to be intrigued by local and fashionable one of a kind pieces crafted with materials native to the region. These items can be made out of local stones, coconuts, or even palm branches fashioned into handbags.

Things to See

There are so many amazing options when choosing the perfect Caribbean cruise and the locations are as diverse as the local population. The South Caribbean cruise stops highlight some of the worlds most pristine, white, sandy beaches perfect for lounging, snorkeling and even windsurfing. In Aruba for example, all of the beaches are perfect for swimming and snorkeling with rare and colorful tropical fish and coral reefs as a major highlight.

Take a trip to the Western Caribbean Islands and you will find luscious beaches, rainforests, and ancient Mayan ruins filled with the stories of conquistadors and the quest for gold. Have an adventure and hike through dense, yet well-guided trails in Puerto Rico and Cozumel, Mexico to experience untouched nature while viewing rare and exotic flora, fauna, and wild animals native only to this region of the world.

In the Eastern Caribbean Islands, you will find European influences in not only the food but also the architecture and landscape as well.  Dutch and French colonization is now nothing but mere history, however when visiting the island of Saint Maarten, one can not help but feel as if they were walking the streets of old Europe with a hint of tropical flair.

Restaurants and Bars

The food in the Caribbean can only be described as a fusion of tastes and cultures with influences from Africa, India, Spain and even China.  Fine dining options are plentiful on the Islands and most restaurants take pride in using only fresh, local ingredients in their dishes. Coconut, mango, and vanilla bean are just a few examples of flavors that you will find fused into the local dishes.

Wish to experience some of the finest libations in the world? A stop to Jamaica's Montego Bay does just the trick with some of the finest rum liquors available. Taste, homemade, local rums while enjoying one of the most popular ways of preparing meats. Jerk chicken, goat, and beef goes perfectly well with spiced Jamaican rum and is available virtually everywhere. The sweetness of the rum cools the spiciness of the jerked meats quite complimentary and is not only a favorite of the local population, but visitors to the Islands as well.
