The Pitons

The Pitons are nearly 3000 feet above the sea level, dominating the western coast. The Gros Piton is the second highest peak in St. Lucia with a height of 2619 feet. It lies at the southern end of the bay. A climb up the Gros Piton can be easy to do without any prior preparation and takes an average of 2 hours to reach the summit. Hiring a guide is mandatory for climbing this peak.

The Petit Piton lies in the middle of the bay and north of the larger Gros Piton. It rises to a height of 2461 feet. The climb is difficult compared to that of the other Piton. Climbing the Petit Piton takes around 2 to 3 hours. This trail is very difficult, and you may have to take the support of tree roots and rocks on the way to pull yourself up to the summit. There is no official guide available for your assistance at this Piton; however, you can find a large number of local guides for your help.

Frigate Islands

Frigate Islands, which are located on the Atlantic cost, is a major nesting colony of frigate birds. You can also find other birds here. Frigate is an extremely rare species of oceanic birds; you can often see them while trailing along the shore or while traveling by boat. For the protection of these endangered species, visitors are not allowed on the Mangrove islands. The hike is a little more than half a mile through a beautiful landscape, which includes mangroves and yards. There is an observation point from which we can view the island. The island is closed throughout the summer, which is the breeding season of Frigate birds.

Marigot Bay

Marigot Bay is one of the beautiful locations of St. Lucia. It is situated on the western coast of St. Lucia. James A Michener, the famous US novelist, praised it as "the Most Beautiful Bay in the Caribbean." Marigot Bay is the perfect location for people who are interested in photography. Sunbathing at the Palm Beach and ocean diving are the other major activities here. You can reach Marigot bay by sailing for 2 hours from Rodney Bay or by sailing for an hour from the Pitons.
