Dover is one of England's principal ports. The main attraction here is the stunning White Cliffs of Dover and the castle. Dover Castle was built in 1187 and still stands as a beautiful monument today. Lighthouses are also still standing and are a point of interest here.
Leith, Scotland, offers access to Edinburgh. Edinburgh is 15 minutes from Leith by taxi. Primary attractions in Edinburgh include the Palace of Holyroodhouse, Queen Elizabeth's Scottish residence. Edinburgh Castle always has exhibits of interest on display. The historic St. Gile's Cathedral and Arthur's Seat, an 800-foot-high extinct volcano, are also popular.
Inverness is home to the famous Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle. Travelers to Inverness will find plenty of shopping and a chance to explore the legend of the Loch Ness.
The Shetland Islands have their own national park, the Noss National Nature Reserve. Scenic tours and bird-watching are popular activities for the island. The Orkney Islands are home to the Skara Brae archeological site and St. Magnus Cathedral.
Dublin has a lot of cultural attractions, including Trinity College's library, home of the Book of Kells. Museums and churches are popular attractions as well.
