The Eidfjord port is located in the small village of Eidfjord, Norway. The village has grown over the last few decades and now is a major cruise harbor. It is located just 11 km from Brimnes and is located on the south side of the fjord. Visitors to the Eidfjord cruise port will notice that across the way from the city is the beautiful, snow capped mountain peak of Onen. Shopping

A nice feature about the Eidfjord port is that there is a variety of shopping centers located nearby. For example, you may wish to visit Ljos and Stakje. Here, the craft of candle creation takes shape. The candle workshop is located in the heart of the Eidfjord city. You can purchase these candles as well as ceramics and other crafts.

Visit Hardanger Flid for clothing that is "natural" in terms of Norway. You will find Hardanger costume for children and adults. Beautiful hand woven tapestries are available, as are tablecloths and frames. This shop is also located in the heart of the city. For those looking for wood art pieces, Trebua has just what you are looking for. Jewelry boxes made from birch, handmade woodcarvings and handmade fiddles can be purchased here. You can also take a guided tour through the workshop.

Other shops worth stopping by include the Coop market for food products, Unik Gifts for gifts and souvenirs and Mangfaldet that offers furniture, curtains, sewing and a number of handcrafts including handmade quilts.

Things to Do

In the Eidfjord port, there are many attractions including natural activities and historical aspects. Check out the Skytjefossen, which is a waterfall that has a free fall of 300 meters. It is one of the tallest in the country. You can walk to it in about an hour and a half. Kjeasen Mountain, where a farm lies in just as an eagle's nest located a mountainside cliff overlooking Simadalsfjord. You will drive past the Sima hydroelectric plant, which many people want to stop and look at for its uniqueness.

One should Visit Eidfjord New Church and the Eidfjord Old Church, both of which are available for tours. You can visit the Hardangervidda Nature Centre Eidfjord if you would like to learn about the natural surroundings and partake in tours available here. Visit Haereid where you will find Viking Graves to visit.

Visitors to Eidfjord port will find several places to have a great meal. Stop by the Quality Hotel and Resort Voringfoss for an international menu in a fine dining setting. For more traditional food from Norway, and especially this region, stop in at either Mix Mett og God or Vik Pensjonat og Hytter. For breakfast, visit Eidfjord Gjestgiveri; a small guesthouse. It is also home to one of the best pancake restaurants you will find, where an Old Dutch recipe is in use to create 15 different varieties of pancakes.
