Cuisine
In addition to the great music onboard and music-style themes, the cuisine is also something to marvel at on Costa Pacifica cruises. For prearranged seating at dinner time, the New York, New York and My Way restaurants are the main venues for eating at night. Table arrangements are usually quite large to accommodate groups. For buffets, you'll head to La Paloma, which boasts themed sections featuring French, Italian, Asian and Mexican fare. Or, you could choose to eat lunch at the Ipanema Grill or Lido Calpyso. Gourmet diners will want to eat at the Club Blue Moon, overseen by Ettore Bocchia, a renowned innovative chef. Be sure to make reservations.
Entertainment and Nightlife
When the sun sets, head to the entertainment district on Deck 5. Its proximity to many different venues makes it appealing and easy to get to. Here, you'll have easy access to the Grand Bar Rhapsody for dancing, a cigar bar, the casino, Route 66 sports bar, and Piano Bar. If you're a country or soft pop lover, you'll have a blast at Rock Around The Clock. The dance club is truly impressive and spans two decks, open to all hours of the early morning.
Cabins
Staterooms are pretty standard on the Costa Pacific ship. There are more than 1,500 cabins overall, with many of them being suites and verandah cabins. You can also choose from interior staterooms which are traditional in decor and set-up. You won't find any surprises here, except for the flat-screen TVs on which you can book excursions.
Recreation
The first of its kind, Costa Pacific's state-of-the-art recording studio is located in the ship's main theater. For a fee, you can book a one-hour session to record your own music. Technicians will mix and edit the creation and have your CD delivered to your cabin afterwards. For older kids and adults, there's Playstation World, located off the casino. Here, try your hand at playing various PS games in front of everyone. Or, try the Grand Prix driving simulator for something exciting. The spa onboard the ship earns positive Costa Pacifica reviews, featuring a gym, exercise room for classes, sauna, salon, Turkish bath, and sun beds.
Onboard Fees
Fees onboard Costa Pacifica cruises are standard, with traditional rates for tipping, excursions and amenities. The two Samsara Restaurants charge an extra fee for passengers not occupying the spa cabins. Set beneath an impressive glass dome, Club Blue Moon is another alternate restaurant that requires extra charges.
Taking the Kids
Kids are welcome on Costa Pacifica, but you will find more family-oriented cruise ships out there. The Squok Club, the cruise line's kids' program, is geared towards tots and features a pool area just for them. And PlayStation World is great for older kids. However, the overall offerings fall short of other ships, with just one playroom for kids ages 3 to 11 and one teen center for ages 12 and up.
