Great ship with very good itinerary. Having done five cruises in the Caribbean, the food was substandard along with the quality.
I would suggest the open top bus tours around the cities, they are great for seeing the various places. Be sure to ask about times of the buses though.
We took this Cruise Jan 2010. The ship was beautiful. The food was a little lacking. It is Italian based so you get a lot of that type of food. I have no desire to eat Pasta for a while. The places we went to were awesome and the ease of getting on and off the boat was pretty good. Exercursions were overpriced. Drinks were expensive. It was VERY clean and our cabin cleaners were great. They would make towel animal shapes for the girls! I was a little disappointed I was told they had babysitting but they did not so we saw no night life on the boat. Long waits for the elevators. We used the stairs a lot. Overall great trip.
We are experienced cruisers over the last 20 years, having had an enjoyable cruise with MSC in the past we decided to sample MSC Splendida. We booked a Yacht Club suite and looked forward to being pampered, unfortunately this was not the case!
Service was poor from our steward, sorry our Butler who failed to introduce himself and was only seen when the cabin sorry again suite was cleaned. Service and the cabin 5/10.
Food was very average, drinks poorly mixed that's when you can find somebody to serve you 5/10
We did have a unfortunate experience when on a excursion resulting in 21 people submitting complaints....no response from the guest relations manager on board not interested, we all submitted written complaints to HO no response since June.
Overall the bottom line is would we cruise with MSC again? No the line is not for us.
The ship was spotless, and fellow passengers great. So we made the best of a bad lot and enjoyed the company of fellow cruisers.
Abbolutely fantastic! We have had many pleasant experiences with MSC in the past. They offer great values in the off season. This was first time in there "Yacht Club" this is well worth the cost. If you can afford to, you really shoulde experience the Yacht Club for that ship within a ship.
The Splendida is new and very modern ship with splendid facilities. The cabins (or staterooms) are quite spacious and well equipped. Unfortunately there are a few problems with the additional costs. Coffee, tea and even water are charged for at lunch and dinner in the dining rooms. The Gratuities charge is now compulsory as explained by the Customers Serives Manager and cannot be removed. The library/internet room is quite small and internet facilities are expensive, slow and quite often are not working.
after many cruises, this was one of the worst ones i have ever take. no coffee, except at breakfast and mid day tea. the rest of the time it cost. same for water. no drinking fountains.
the food was rated by our group as cheap italian food
tasteless pasta. meat that one could not cut or chew let alone digest. in other words poor no crappy.
cabin staff, great. dining staff, ok.
reception desk lacking. if you did not speak italian or german it was hard to get a answer. felt i was being looked down upon. i will never sail with mac. nor recommend it to anyone. they nickle and dime you to death.
