11 User Reviews of Victoria Cruise Ship

Transatlantic
Publication Date: November 26, 1999

On 26 November 1999 to December 12 1999 I took my second cruise with Costa Victoria on a transatlantic from Genoa , Italy to Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Air was arranged by Costa Cruise Lines and was excellent. Flew from Atlanta to Zurich on Swiss Air and by Swiss air to Genoa. I booked on deck 11, pararama Suite, and the suite was great in every way. The butler didn't speak much English but I got along with him as I made no unusual demands on his service.

Food: Found the food average. During the 16 day voyage some main courses were repeated. Pasta at lunch and dinner was outstanding. At my request they made my favorite ice cream flavor and I had it almost at every lunch and dinner.

Entertainment: nothing special , but good.

On Ship Program: fair, program staff was fun but events were limited.

Embarkation & disembarkation: No problems, well organized and smooth.

Nationality breakdown: We were told that there were about 900 Europeans aboard; 300 Spanish; 300 French; 400 American and British.

Public Areas: Clean and well taken care of with excellent service.

Pool and Spa: Deck space was good. Never had problem

finding space on the sun deck or a lounge chair. Indoor spa was good. Casino: Average. No dice table.

General Comment: The Victoria was an excellent value and was one of the cleanest and well-kept ship I have ever been on. This was my 21st cruise.I first sailed on Cost Romantica several years ago. All ship personnel were good at languages. Especially the Purser's desk which was helpful. Some Americans would not enjoy the international flavor of Costa . Everything is done and explained in 5 languages, even the stateroom TV has separate movie channels in French, German, Italian, Spanish and English. Costa has value for basic cruising programs. I would travel Costa again.
