I was just at the Atlanta Fox a little over a year ago. It is definitely still going strong as one of the great showplaces of the nation. I went for the opening night of the stage version of Disney's High School Musical (of all things). A great friend of ours, who we call "our third kid" is a musical director, composer and arranger. He did all the arrangements for the stage version, plus wrote two new songs for it, and he conducted the orchestra for the first few months of the national tour.
It is one of our great "atmospheric" theaters (those are the ones with the clouds and the stars), and it's in great shape.
You've really hit a nerve with this string. In the next reply I'll post an article I wrote not long ago about my early theater experiences.
