I agree with talking to the crew. I tend to faint if Ihave to stand for any length of time, especially if it is hot out. I just mention this and they have me stand off to the side a bit and usually at least in the little bit of shade available from the structure of the ship. They don't want people starting out a cruise being sick. But, they are still required to do the drill. Also, I try to show up just a tiny bit late so that I can position myself to best advantage. If anyone says anything, I just explain my situation. Explaining that your kids might barf on those nearby would also be a good motivation!
