NCL refers to these as service fees, not gratuities which is probably a more accurate description.
Yeah its funny how NCL has service fees added automatically I believe but also have a tipping recommendation policy on top of that. I read it in their brochure. A little sleight of hand in trying to get people to double pay it appears to me.
