That's a hazard waiting to happen--it happens all the time in homes around Christmas time so I would think it would be doubly dangerous to decorate a balcony with cheap Christmas lights, especially as they're made for use in homes, not to be used exposed to the damp, wet salt air of the sea, and not to mention how tacky.
Who would see them at night anyway-- it's not like you can get off the ship and admire them from afar--But it very easily could start a " far. "

This is one of my "pet peeves" since I had a neighbor who had their pulsating Christmas lights on their balcony. They ran them for a couple of nights until I finally asked them to shut them off when they went to bed. It was like living in a cheap motel with the flashing sign outside.
