I agree with the PP.
I don't get why Carnival has the perception of the party ship. There are just as many partiers on Royal.
I would draw a line between 3/4/5 day cruises and the 7 day cruises (on any line). I would say that the shorter trips tend to be party cruises, and the longer ones more geared towards family.
Manuel, DH and I are AVID gamblers! It's one of the main reasons we love cruising. We're sailing Disney in March, and I will let you know how we survive without a casino!
To the OP, its very difficult to compare cruiselines as there are often many variations within a line. For example, a cruise on Grandeur of the Seas cannot be compare to a cruise on Allure of the Seas. Similarly Dream/Magic cannot be compare Fantasy or Celebration (are those even still seaworthy?).
I think the best comparison comes from someone (not ME!) who has sailed both Carnival Dream/Magic and Royal Oasis/Allure.
We'll be sailing Freedom of the Seas in a few more weeks (gasp!) so i will try and remember to report back and let you know how it compares to Carnival Dream.
