January 24, 2013 - 4 Wonderful Days
My two adult daughters and I sailed on the Triumph on January 24, 2013 for a 4 day getaway. We had a wonderful time. We attended the shows, seminars, played trivia games, and most of all had fun. The Triumph is the perfect sized ship for a short trip. We had previously sailed on the Magic which is huge to us. The Triumph is very senior friendly. It is just big enough to keep you going and not get over tired.
Jen Baxter was our CD. She is from England and quite entertaining. We enjoyed her alot. She was especially helpful with debarkation because we arrived late in Galveston. She was very calm and kept the passengers informed and comfortable.
Julie (I don't remember her last name) was our shopping specialist. She presented good information about shopping in Cozumel. She was also out in the various shops on our port day. She even stopped to ask us how things were going. All the VIP passes she gave us onboard were honored.
Our dining attendants, Wichit, Ardison, and Ni Komong, were excellent. We were seated in the Paris Dining Room Upper. After the first night we never had to ask for anything we requested the first night again. They were very friendly. Even when we saw them about ship, they would speak and say a few words. This helps to make a trip even better. The only thing I regret about the trip is the creme brulee. We enjoyed it on the Magic and we were told it is only served on 7 day trips. We were looking forward to it. The breakfast buffet was great. We noticed they had baked beans on the breakfast buffet and thought that strange, but later found out many English passengers like them for breakfast. So points go to Carnival for trying to please everyone. I was happy to have my grits everyday. I must mention the pancakes were also tasty. We had lunch in the dining room one day and the service was great and our food was served hot. The other days we ate in the Lido dining room. The choices were good and each day had a menu from a different country. We also had a Taste Bar in the evening which was also good. You must try the Deli when onboard.
Our room steward was Rommell and we can't say enough good things about him. We were on Empress deck. Since the 3 of us shared a cabin, the upper bunk was made up. (:>) We quickly called for a steward to let him know that would not work. When we came from dinner, the upper had been removed and the sofa bed made up. Also, we had a queen bed made up, but that had been remade to twin beds per our request. Rommell kept our room clean, added the additional towels we needed, kept the ice bucket filled, and always spoke to us by name when we saw him.
A couple of nights we tried late night room service. No complaints. The service was quick. We tried the shrimp salad and it was good. One night it was served on a bun. The next time, I ordered it without the bun and it was served on a bed of lettuce which was what I wanted.
My daughters and I had a great girls trip. We are now planning a family group trip for 2014 if it is God's will. We would recommend this trip to anyone needing a quick getaway.
