Default Duty Free Champagne

Hi!!
My wife and I will take a cruise to Alaska next week leaving from Vancouver. We'll stay three nights there. Since we are flying from Houston to Vancouver we can buy our Champagne at the duty free shop at the airport.

-How much Champagne (wine) can we take into Canada without paying duties?
-How likely is that a custom agent will inspect our luggage?
-Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks a lot for your time. Horatio.

I believe legally you can take two liters a person. We just got off a cruise on RCL Vision of the Seas down to Mexico and bought 4 liters EACH and the "Customs Inspection" consisted of a one-way mirror in the cruise ship terminal; i.e., nonexistent.

very unlikely, but you never know. See above.

Yeah, buy what you want within reason, pack it deep within your luggage, and don't sweat it. You'll most likely be OK.

have fun!!!

We're going on the Sky on 16 June. Hope you do some kind of review of your cruise. Will look forward to it!!

Horatio,
My husband and I are leaving next week as well...on the Ryndam. We are sailing out of San Diego. We'll be stopping in Vancouver on the 16th or 17th. Maybe we'll be on the same cruise?! Have a Great time and make sure to post your comments when you get back.
