Noticed on the message board that many say Priceline is the way to go in Vancouver- will be trying that. Do I need a downtown hotel to have a relatively easy transfer to the cruise ship? We will be arriving in Vancouver a day early before our cruide. What about Anchorage? We will be staying there one night before flying home. Any suggestions for a nice hotel? The info on this board has been invaluable in helping me arrange our cruise and land tours- thanks so much for all the help!
You definately want a downtown Vancouver hotel, this allows some good touring opportunities and only a short cab ride to the cruise docks. Will you have a car in Anchorage??? It is highly recommended even for a day as the city is VERY spread out with touring highlights everywhere. If not- then book a hotel near where you want to be?? With the downtown area offering the most- probably.
Where do u wish to stay in anchorage? we are going to be renting a motorhome and we are staying near the airport and the room rates are good. about 60 a night. we are not looking to get into an expensive hotel, as we arrive at 9pm, and get the RV the next day
Big Bear Bed & Breakfast on the NE side of Anchorage. You'll definitely want a car there to see the area. Very nice home with expert guidance. BigBear@artic.net. You'll love the personal meal preparation that accomodates any special needs and emphasizes unique area cuisine.
We stayed at the Ramada downtown in Vancouver which was a short taxi ride from the dock. Walking distance to downtown area, like old Gas Town, and bus stop that goes all around the city and you can get off and on as many times as you want. You won't have time to see it all.
