Mosquitoes Alert

This isthe season for mosquitoes in Alaska. So Beware and prepared. From the information printed in one local newspaper, this year will be "a banner year".

We have taken two cruises a year since 1972, most being from Vancouver back to Vancouver but also a decent bumber have been fourteen day back to back cruises, Vancouver to Seward and back .While occassionally a mosquitoe has been brazen enough to enter our stateroom, only be to slain. The people that can be confronted with mosquitoes are those on land tours rather than passengers on a cruise ship. Take "Deet" along or a protective spray that contains "Deet. twhich can be bought locally in Alaska in hardware, drug stores or markets..

we have been to Alaska twice and the first time we seen no mosquitos but this last time we went on a tour to Taku Lodge which by the way is BEAUTIFUL and they had bug spray there for customers and it was very much needed so if you don't plan on doing lots of trips that will take you into the vegitation you should not have a problem. never hurts to be prepared.
