Default Vancouver Hotels

Will be staying one night in Vancouver at the end of our HAL cruisetour in
August. Need ideas on hotel where we can visit Gastown and just enjoy
walking around and looking. Also, does anyone know how far it is to airport from downtown area? Got the restaurant suggestions from earlier
posts...looking forward to trying one of them.

We went through Priceline for our one night pre-cruise stay in Vancouver. I bid $60 for a 4 star and we received the Westin Bayshore next to Stanley Park. The brochure price and Expedia price was $250.

I was very pleased with the Crowne Plaza St. George Hotel, located right downtown. I actually walked from the hotel to the cruise terminal (about five blocks) with my luggage ("rollerback") last year, though I recommend taking a cab going the other way because it's uphill. The Crowne Plaza chain offers a substantial discount if you book and prepay (non-refundable) at least three weeks in advance. This hotel is one of Vancouver's grand dames, and it's now loacted right between a Fairmont and a Four Seasons -- definitely the "right" neighborhood!

Have a great trip to "The Great Land!"

Norm.

Enjoy Vancouver - it is a great city. I have this year's entertainment book - good until November. If you have any specific restaurants or tours in mind just say so - if they are in the book I'll send you the coupons. We tend to use the ones from the "burbs" rather than downtown. There are ones for the Trolley, the Suspension Bridge Museums etc.

It's about a half hour from the airport to downtown. You can get a limo outside the terminal for about $40 (I think lol) - that's for the ride for several passengers - not each. I can find out the name if you would like.
