Default Cruise ship safety

Anybody have any updates on safety on a cruise ship? With all the new media coverage of how "unsafe" cruising has become I have had some concerns. Any comments from frequent "knowing" cruisers. Thanks, Barb

IMHO cruising is very safe. Yes, there was the unfortunate fire on the Star Princess and some people going overboard on others but those are the exceptions.

Tip: Don't get drunk and try to stand on the railings.

You should feel plenty safe.

The better lines, like Princess, Royal Caribbean, and Celebrity, take the "three S's" (safety, security, and sanitation) very seriously. Their ships have well-concealed security cameras covering ALL of the public spaces, including passageways on cabin decks, and they have full-time security staff who are well prepared to deal with any incidents that might arise. I honestly don't know of any environment that is safer than their ships.

Norm.
