Sitka Dock

I am looking a taking a cruise on HAL that stops in Sitka. On HAL's website it says that tendering is required in Sitka. I read that a new cruise ship dock is being built in Sitka this winter. Does anyone know if it will be available for Cruise ships this summer.

I don't know the status of construction, but you should be aware that a dock might not be able to accommodate all of the ships that might call at a port on a given day. Thus, it's possible that a ship might anchor and tender passengers ashore even in a port that does have a dock for cruise ships.

You would be better off tendering. The new dock is being built about 6 miles from town which means bus, taxi, etc.

i live in sitka there is no dock for you HAL ships. you must take a tender.

Don't worry about the tenders. They are very easy, even for the most immobile guests. And very safe. And you never have to wait long either
