Default Scheduling a flight home

Hi all!

I'm trying to get my ducks in a row for our first cruise, but I have a question--for what time, really, should I schedule my flight home? We will dock in Miami at 7 AM, and NCL's brochure says to schedule flights "not less than six hours" after arrival in port, but I wonder about that. I don't want to get into a situation where we're cursing every red light on the way to the airport because we cut it too close, but on the other hand, I also don't want to sit at the airport for 4 hours before my flight leaves, KWIM? We're really looking to go straight to the port from the airport, without doing any sightseeing (the flight home will be long enough with the layovers that hanging around Miami will make it much too long of a day).

So...anyone have suggestions?

I have often wondered the same myself and I would go with an 8 hr lag time. Just in case there were issues getting off the ship. I have been on those that were held up by customs.

Just my thoughts....

Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Courage and perserverance have a magical talisman; before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish into the air.

Pick your company wisely! Hang around people who are going to help you become all God created you to be.

You also may be able to check in and get boarding passes at the pier for your flight, great time saver. I would think a noon flight would be safe, I could of easily made a 10AM flight on my last cruise, but still had a noon flight, wasn't a problem. We were checked in and turned over luggage right at the pier, just had to get a cab to the airport and wait around for 4 hours.
