I've never been on cruise but we are looking for Jan-Feb 2009 timeframe.
I know there are casinos on board, but I don't gamble - I play poker.
I know there are dedicated poker cruises, but I would be looking to play 1-2 times not the entire cruise. I also know there are casinos at many of the Caribbean locations, with poker, but I would probably spend the time with my wife and not at a table.
Do any of the HAL, Princess or Celebrity casinos have live poker tables? (not the new table game texas hold'em)
If I happen to strike up any interest with other guests, are there any card rooms where guests can get together for a friendly "home type" poker game? I generally travel with poker chips and cards. Are there any rules prohibiting guests playing cards for cash?
We sail Regent Seven Seas cruises. Many times folks set up a friendly poker game. Usually use part of a closed restaurant after lunch. Ship has chips and cards which we use. Ship has sometimes provided refreshments for the players. I don't know about the cruise lines you mention; wouldn't hurt to take your chips and cards and chat with your fellow pax in casino and find a time and place for a friendly game.
