Default Just sitting on the patio thinking......

My hubby and I are sitting outside on this beautiful evening sipping a cocktail listening to reggae music and checking out the boards on Cruisemates, and counting down the days until we sail again. We so love cruising. All inclusive island vacations just don't do it for us. We love having a new backyard every morning. I never thought we would love it the way we do. I know you are all as hooked as we are. So tell me, what hooks you exactly? What calls you back to cruising again and again?
I would love to hear your stories. Maybe some about to be first time cruisers would like to hear too.

It's the new port each day, or almost each day, that hooks me. It is also the variety and quality of the food and having a nice cabin to sleep and rest in.

Their isn't a better way to travel.

Take care,
Mike

Okay, what call's us to cruising : Sally & DH, we agree with you and Mike. We'd never enjoy an all-inclusive resort. We'd be bored to death within a day or two :o !

We love cruising because we can pack once and see many different ports. We also love cruising because DH likes to gamble and I don't! I can do something else, he can gamble, and we're all good !

I also have to agree with "sitting on the patio"! This time of year it's really wonderful!

Continually changing locations without having to pack and unpack.

The privelege of gazing upon the majestic ocean and, if we are lucky, some of its inhabitants.

Being surrounded by people whose job it is to pamper me.

(And connecting with people like you who sit outside, enjoy cocktails and just appreciate life!).

My last two cruises have been to Europe and the Med. Where can you visit so many countires with that much history for the price that cruise lines charge? It really is a cost effective way to take a vacation. Even though last year the Euro was pretty high, most of the expenses were already paid for by staying on the ship for most meals and lodging.

What fun! Maybe we can do that on a ship sometime! Except for the fire part, of course.

For me, a geography lover, the research is just soo much fun...I must say in the "olden" days of having mulptiple brochures, all spread out, with pages of paradise dancing before me,sets the stage.

Then, the getting there experience, and seeing all the ships lined up at the port, and the walking up the gangway, with butterflies in the tummy.

Getting lunch, then getting settled, grabbing the daily paper, and out we go to investigate, before the sailaway. Hearing that oh so loud, wonderful ships horn and waving by to all the people waving back to us, and so day one has begun.

We would also be bored on an all inclusive vacation...to me the more ports the better..new ports to tour around, to at the lay of the land and meet the people, makes my old geography class come alive!

Feeling as if the ports are coming to us rather than us having to travel to get to them. I mean, I know that's not what really happens, but you are so busy being entertained and pampered that it doesn't feel as if you are traveling. Also, as a family we are able to have an "adult" and a "family" vacation at the same time! I tell my friends that it is the best way to travel with kids since they have their clubs where they can play with their new friends while we have some grown-up time! And I don't have to haggle with the kids about what they can eat, since it's all included. It's just the most relaxing vacation for all of us. Yep, we are hooked - all six of us!

Kimbo, if we ever sail on the sail ship, that's a plan!

Trip, it's so true that the journey is half the fun, not the destination. Sounds like you make the most of your cruise.
