Time to start cruise shopping that is!! Where to go, what line to travel... so many unanswered questions.....Time to get started!!
It’s for my 50th birthday which falls in August so should I go in December or the first part of the year when it’s nasty and cold? I refuse to sail when I have warm weather here at home.

I agree with Moraine. You can usually get one heck of deal if you sail in October, November or December (other than over a holiday). There can also be some good last minute deals on European cruises in January and February.
The best "deal" I've ever had was a Mediterranean/Egypt cruise on NCL. Full Cat AC suite on a 12 day cruise for $1400. A standard balcony cabin was just over $700. This was a "last minute" we booked just about 35 days before sailing.
Get an idea of where you want to cruise and start looking for prices. If you see one that you like book it.
Take care,
Mike

I definitely suggest a cold weather month to cruise .
If you sail in hurricane season, or, the first 2 wks in December, there are great deals. In the hurricane season, the weather can be gorgeous at home, so the question is, will you leave that, to go hot. In Dec, it's right after Thanksgiving, and just prior to Christmas...Will you be able to get all your holiday preparations all set to go for when you get home? Then, the first 2 wks after New Years, has great deals too.

January is a good time to go. It's allways cold and boring after the Holidays.

The end of Feb is also a good time to go, then skip the spring break time and try again in April, still not summer at home and weather usually isn't an issue if having to fly into your port of departure...
February is also nice.
March can be enjoyable.
April is fun.
May is interesting
June is a great time to get away.
July is a great Summer vacation
August is a wonderful way to say goodbye to Summer.
September is good because the kids are back in school.
October has great pricing.
November is good way to prepare for the holidays.
December makes a great Christmas present.
I guess any month is a good time to cruise.
Take care,
Mike

Early December worked great for us! It is cool enough back home to justify, but you are done with hurricane season. Also, the rates are still good because kids are in school.
