Cruising the Atlantic in March Help!
My Mother and I will cruise from Ft. Lauderdale to the Island of Funchal, Portugal March 19-30. I'm at a loss as to the weather and just what to pack. We usually cruise in the Caribbean. This time we will want sweaters, etc.... I think! We'll cruise the Southern route and for a couple of days it'll be warm....then a day or so out of Funchal it will be warm.....can you advise me as to clothing?
Thanking you in advance!!
Re: Cruising the Atlantic in March Help!
Hi, Martha ...
My sister-out-law and I did a crossing from New York to Barcelona last April. Funchal was one of our ports.
It was past chilly on the ocean and didn't get warming until we hit the Azores.
Our basic packing plan was khaki-type pants and shorts, polo-ish shirts and sweaters. We each also took what we call "wrinkle suits" ... the light flannel-lined pants and jackets.
We took light sweaters, cardigans ... so they could go on and off easily. Mine was a multi-colored Coogi; hers was black, and we traded off.
Take what you would normally take for evening.
Funchal is a very "walkable" city, no need to take the shore excursions so long as you're in good shape. Don't miss the "sled" ride down from the top of the mountain !!!
If I can answer any other questions, just ask.
