Default Hotel in Fort Lauderdale

Any suggestions for a hotel in Fort Lauderdale. We are flying in a day early for our cruise aboard the Legend. Nothing fancy. Just clean and inexpensive.

lots to choose from. My favorite is the Marriot Marina, also look into AmeriSuites, the Raddison, Holiday Inn Express

We stayed at the Marina Marriott, got a terrific rate from Priceline. Just pick downtown Ft. Lauderdale, 3 stars, and name your price. The downside is that you don't know which hotel you'll get, and you can't cancel the reservation once your bid has been accepted. You can find out more about it here. I was wary about using Priceline but I've had such good results I won't go back to regular reservations.

Cheers,
Michelle B.

I like the Embassy suites. It may cost a little more than a basic hotel, but, you get a lot more. They have free shuttle service from the airport to the hotel(saves cab fare), free shuttle service from hotel to pier (saves another cab fare), free breakfast (you can't think of anything they don't serve and the attrium garden is a lovely place to sit , saves the cost of breakfast). In addition free cocktails in the evening, a two room suite. You can also walk to two adjacent shopping centers where there are places to eat and any kind of store you might need.

We've had good luck from HotWire, ending up at the AmeriSuites. Shuttle from airport to hotel, shuttle from hotel to pier. Last trip, $45. And you haven't seen anything until you have seen the breakfast waffle maker.

And it's only 2-star. Should be higher, in my opinion.

I'm concerned about using hotwire or priceline. We would like the beach area. Those sites aren't going to book a dump will they?

If you go the www.biddingfortravel.com you can see what hotel are available according to numbers of *'s. At least with priceline you should get 1 ot the other. For example if you bid under downtown fort lauderdale 3* you will get either the marriot marina or embassy suites. 4* we get you the ressinsance.

Just check out the frequently ask question area and it helps a lot.

Ok so I tried this priceline thing. First time I screwed up the dates. I think I hit the back key too many times. So I got charged a $25.00 cancellation fee, but oh well. I got the Doubletree Suites for $75.00. Not too bad. It's a 3*** 2 blocks from the beach.
