Default Parking in St. Martin and St. Thomas

We might rent a car for our stops in St. Martin and St. Thomas. Is parking at the beaches and shops expensive? Also, is it easy and safe? We have a group of 12 people and we thought we might save some money by renting 2 vans. TIA.

I would not rent a car to shop in St Sthomas or St Martin. Parking and traffic is horrible at best and gridlocked often. Just take shuttles and it is cheaper and much less frustration. In addition, there is quite a bit of shoppng at the pier in St Thomas even before you go downtown and in St Matrin you dock right at the end of the town's shopping area so you can walk to shopping closer than you can walk to find a car to rent.

24 cruises and counting!

We have rented cras in both places...Avis is the way to go...near the peirs. It is way cheaper and less of a hassle to rent a car to go to the beach.. We are 11 people who travel together and have saved money and had more f;exibility with our own transportaton. We are from the NY area, so parking and traffic don't faze us!
