Default Bon Voyage gift

Is it worth it to send ourself a Bon Voyage gift from Celebrity? Is wine less expensive then the one one board considering the gratuity we have to add. We were planning to send ourself a few bottles of wine and a couple bottles of champagne. Any thoughts?

Thanks

I haven't done the wine thing, but our special occasion in past was a birthday. It was nice to have some streamers and hanging sign "decorated touch" all week in cabin. I also was researching wine for my parents coming along next cruise. I found it worthwhile to bring along, or find some bottles in port and pack in luggage for in cabin use. Do a search on liquor/wine on boards. Much discussion on that topic. Don't forget to pack in checked luggage a corkscrew if applicable.

Hi,
You have quite an original idea.....order the wine as a gift, it gets in your
room the '' legal '' way, and you save the 15% gratuity !!! Brilliant.
Beats taking your own in your bags only to find it is '' extracted and kept for
your disembarkation '';, the cruise lines are getting VERY rigid on the subject
of '' B Y O B '' and itmis now the norm to have such manoeuvres grounded right
at embarkation....they also have stopped the use of the word '' confiscate '' since
they simply return it to you when you get off......but it is '' confiscated from you '' none
the less as regards the original use you had in mind for the booze in the first place,
That process takes place inchecked luggage as well...trust me, I've seen it
happen right here in Vancouver.
The price for wine on '' gift list '' in my opinion is the same as on board.

Thanks for your idea
Cheers
CG

Celebrity does allow you to bring onboard 2 bottles of wine. I'm not sure if it is two bottles per cabin or person ,but you can check this out on their web site. You are only charged the 15% gratuity (corkscrew fee) if you take the of bottle of wine to dinner with you.
Have a great cruise. I'm sure you will love Celebrity.

This is a great Idea. Thanks
We ordered our wine & chanpagine for our cabin, to be consumed in the cabin. One bottle for each day. The steward will bring ice and glasses to the cabin.
We got the brand and vintage we wanted to.

Thanks for the info. I've called Celebrity and they informed me that there will be a 15$ charge per bottle (uncorked fees) even if consumed in cabin. Only 2 bottles per cabin is accepted, that's why we will send us a "few gifts"....

Thanks

sending yourself a Bon Voyage gift is not a new idea, i learned that one years ago from my TA. Pack a corkscrew in your checked baggage to avoid the uncorkage fee.
