My first cruise is next month on the Dream. I have a disability that makes get dizzy and fall a lot. I was not able to get a handicapped room with a shower that had bars to hang onto. Will the Dream's cabin have have a shower/tub with slippery fiberglass floors? Will it have bars on the wall? Should I bring my trusty rubber mat, or can I get one from the porter?
I would suggest that you call the cruiseline and ask specifically how the bathroom is equipped. Unless you booked a suite, most cabins just have a shower, not a tub. And I would bring my own non-slip tub mat if it is important for you to have-most showers I've had on ship have had some type of non-slip texture. Mermaid
totally agree with Merm's post. Call the cruise line or ask your TA how the bathrooms are equipped. They are small, and unless you have a mini-suite or up you will not have a tub, just a shower. The joke amongst cruisers is that you can basically sit on the toilet, shower and shave at the same time. The showers are hand-held so you could sit on the shower floor if needed to bathe.
Location: Wisconsin....about 100 miles south of the Frozen Tundra and 70 miles east of Camp Randall
All inside cabins I have been in (and all are regular cabins, NOT handicapped ones) have a grab bar in the shower. Reason being, is that the ship does move and rock....everyone will need something to hold on to at times in the shower. Not sure if a shower stool would fit in a regular cabin's shower, but it is worth a try!
