Any recommendations on books to read to give info for a first-time cruiser? Going to San Juan, St Maarten, and St. Thomas- any books about those destinations? Thanks!!

I just purchased Foder's 2006 Caribbean Ports of Call. I get it every couple of years, and new stuff appears each time. I find it very informative on all the ports and it gives some good advice on out of the way places to visit in each port.

I always recommend Pam Kane's "Cruise Control" -- it made me feel like an experienced cruiser on our first trip 6 years ago. 18 cruises later, I still say the same. I also have the West book, but it was Pam's that made me feel like a cruising pro.
Pam also did a newer one, too, which I think gives more updates. Just Google her name.

Thank's y'all!! I've been looking at the Pam Kane book online. Just need to get out of my tine town to one that has a bookstore and pick one (or two!) up! Thanks for the recommendations!!!

Also, remember that you can check out many of these books from your local library! Probably not Jim West's or Pam's, but the Frommer's and Fodor's (and others) are usually readily available.
Have a wonderful cruise!
