Default Acceptable words

Are words that are heard during TV prime time acceptable for use on this board?
Prime time means when children of all ages are watching.

No, not all words heard on television or the radio are acceptable in this media. What are they? You only learn by executing them. They are automatically replaced with something else.

Good one!!!

I just think an 'edit' would be more helpful than a trigger happy 'delete'.

Actually words on the radio span the whole gamut of vocabulary with sattelite radio. Even on our local oldies station a caller slipped in "the s word" today.

Most of your prime time "words" are allowed. Some words such as "V iagra" have been added to the word censor because of spam abuse.

By changing the word it ruins the spammer's intention and also disables links that have been put into some messages.

Rarely is an edit done, most of the time it is an automatic censor that changes the word in the post.

It's a case where some of the bad folks ruin it for everyone else.

Take care,
Mike

Just to clarify, I used the common term for H ades as a tongue in cheek pun.
Heckever, I think even Jan Brady told Greg to go to H-ville a few times.

Obviously, the same words a grammar school nun would slap you on the wrist for should not be used here.

A lot of it has to do with context, as well. Using profanity gratuitously is not welcome. And using it directed toward another individual is not allowed at all.

But if you want to describe your mother in law as "hell on wheels" or say you believe that sinning leads to eternal damnation then that is allowed.

Words not allowed at all: any word common referred to by a letter followed by the word "word", like "x-word" (there is no x-word, but that is an example).

Also not allowed - foreign words commonly known to represent our own cuss words, like thee Brit term that rhymes with cranker (hmm, even that sounds obscene). Another term is the Brit word we commonly used for a layered haircut in the 70s that rhymes with "tag" - if you are using it in the British context.

Regarding the seven words article: there are three auxiliary words and I agree with two of them, but as far as I am concerned - turd is OK. I am not too offended by the word t*ts, but can think of funnier and more descriptive words anyway - I have alwasy been partial to the word
bazooms.
