Default Dinner reservations on Carnival Spirit

We will be a party of 17 on the Carnival Spirit on August 17th. We MUST get early seating, but so far we are on the waiting list. We will have several toddlers and children with us, so there's no way we can have late seating. These kids are from the midsouth, eastcoast, and mountain states, so even early seating is late for them. I hate being given the runaround. Our reservation for this cruise was made months and months ago. We are celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary, and we want everything to run smoothly. Is there someone we can speak to BEFORE we are on the cruise? We've been told to speak to the maitre'd when we get on board. My take is that we have to give him a 'tip' for this. Our travel agent couldn't do anything for us. I could really use some good input.

If you have 3+ weeks before you sail you can ask John Heald at his blog (just post a message there that starts with "JOHN PLEASE REPLY") and ask if he can arrange it. John Heald's Blog

Otherwise calling Carnival directly is the only other way besides the maitre'd option.

What discsussions did you have with your ta, at the time of booking? If you didn't mention this, and, she didn't ask, you both share the blame, to be honest...That she cannot change this prior to the cruise, does not mean that she is giving you the runnaround. Try giving Carnival a call as well.

Realistically, the fact that your party is so large, could work against you in changing your time. Run like the wind when you get onboard to find out where and when you can meet the maitre'd to try to change this. I am sure they will do their best, but a tip, though appreciated, may or may not work with this specific issue..I wish you good luck, and come back, and let us know how it all worked out.

This is probably a stupid question, but where do I post the question on John Heald's blog? I got into his site and registered as a subscriber. I searched for a place to post but couldn't find it. That's as far as I got. Help!

Default Early dinner

I am happy to report that we have early seating for dinner. Frankly, I don't know how that happened since I haven't heard back from our TA, Carnival, or John Heald. I am just very happy about this. We have a couple of other bugs to work out, and I'll be happy.

I think everyone booked under the bloggers code is assigned early dining.

I prefer late, but have early for this one.
