notarized note?

I'm 16 and i'm going on a carnival cruise with a friend and her family in 11 days (Dec. 23), there will be 3 adults all over the age of 25. Do I need to get a notarized note from my parents saying I can go? Is it a MUST HAVE?

Thanks
-Sarah :)

okay thank you! do you know how long that will take to get a notarized note?

It'll only take as long as it takes for your parents to write the letter, and take it to a notary for them to witness their signatures.

You can probably find and print out forms online. Basically you're looking for something along the lines of a Parental Power of Attorney. It states that the people you are travelling with (or one specific person) can act like your parents on your behalf. They can be as specific or general as your parents want to make it. If your parents have any kind of group legal coverage through work, that's the best bet. Otherwise search around on the net for a form that works. Fill in the blanks, take to a Notary Public (Look in the yellow pages rofl ), parents sign in their presence, and then they stamp it. Done and done.

Sarah

I think it's wonderful that you are taking the responsibility to find out the requirements for your travel. You are a smart young lady.

Enjoy your cruise and welcome to Cruisemates!

make sure that the note specifies who is responsible for you, and include authorization for medical care- this is a MUST

We took our 16 y/o neighbor girl and we were asked for this letter. It is a must have. We even made copies to carry around the different ports. Be sure to include any activities you might be doing while on land tours or ship and bring your medical card or a copy of it. Have a great time and be sure to respect their rules and thank them for this as I'm sure you will. ;-)
