Default Problems with a Travel Agent

Is there a way for me to file a complaint against a Travel Agent ?

My cruise is next week and I still have not received paperwork from the TA .

Henry

You are on a Celebrity cruise? I am doing a Celebrity cruise in April - checked in on-line; ordered my luggage tags etc and I have printed off all my docs weeks ago.

Annie

PS I think Manuel has said in the past that his TA prints everything off for him but I have always printed the docs myself.

I printed the e-docs .I ordered the luggage tags directly from the cruise line rather than wait for the TA.

I am waiting for the TA to send the Insurance policy , confirmation that my medical requirements have been addressed and luggage tags from the group we are traveling with (designating us as part of the group).

I called the TA and got a recording that she is on vacation till next week.

You are correct. She is very helpful and she also takes care of all of our airline reservations.

Of course I have know her for some time and have referred other clients to her.

Henry you can file complaints with both BBB and CLIA; but then you need to find a new travel agent.

South of the Mason Dixon line; tar and feathering is still an option.

Even when I have purchased 3rd party insurance from my travel agent, rather then say, insuremytrip.com,the, packet of documents, comes from the insurance company themselves. Did you buy the cruiseline insurance from Celebrity?

It seems, depending on when she/he comes back from vacation, they may have to overnight all this info to you.

Kuki would be able to speak on the complaint we had, and,we got nowhere.
If it went to CLIA, I don't remember. Basically I bet it would be a slap on the wrist, if that.

Linda, I agree. Whether I have bought insurance from TA or insuremytrip, I have always gotten policy via email from insurance company.

Henry, I would check your email for insurance policy.

This is an organization cruise . Normally they have about 500 people booked ,however ,since they were not getting people interesred they opened the cruise to friends and relarives of their members .My wife and I are in that category .All of the members of the organization received all of their documents in person from the TA who came to their location .
We live in a different state and therefore we were advised that we would receive everything by mail .

If she is in an agency, with other agents, not a one person operaton, especially with this large a group, someone should be able to give you some information. Get someone there to just fax you this info. Since its not ship documentaion you are waiting for, it should be a simple request. Ask what insurer you are with, then call this company, and ask for your info to be faxed to you. When is she due back, did they say?

So......have the insurance company just mail them to you if you are worried..if not, just deal with it next week.

Hi Henry

Does your Public Library not have a fax you can use?

You know so many people - someone must have a fax you can use.

All the office supply stores have fax available. Office Max, Office Depot, Staples, etc.

One very unfortunate thing about the Travel Agent business, it is basically unregulated.

BBB simply lists your issues, with any others they may have, but have no mandate to do anything about it.

CLIA is just a marketing arm of the cruise industry. They offer training programs for travel agents, but again have absolutely no authority to assist unhappy cruisers, and no authority to regulate or penalize an agent or agency. Basically the only requirement to join CLIA is to pay for the membership.

With regard to travel agents the only regulations guiding them is the "laws of the land" , and that is also the only manner of seeking any form of compensation for them.
