Would like to go to a good beach in Calica or in vicinity. If you have been to one you like, we would appreciate you sharing that information. Do not want surf.

The closest beach would be at Playa del Carmen, but I'd highly recommend XCaret. It's only 5 minutes from the pier, and I think u'll be surprised at just how wonderful this place is!
I don't recall any beach there, but lots of places for relaxing and sunning by the water.

Last January, my friends and I took a taxi from Calica to Playa Del Carmen in search of a good beach. We were very disappointed. The actual beach is quite small. A crew member had recommended that we go to XCaret, but unfortunately, we didn't heed his advice. So while I cannot recommend XCaret from experience, from what I've read on this board as well as heard from the crew aboard the Mercury, it definately is the place to go when in Calica.

We just got back from a cruise on the imaginaation that went to Calica and we took the cab to playa del carmen for 10 bucks (you can fit 4 people in the cab for this price) and the beach is great. It is not small as one of the responders told you. Calica is basically a gravel pit with mexican vendors trying to sell you the usual junk and tons of cabs waiting to take you to your desired destination.
