Default Atlantis Submarine - St. Thomas,Barbados

Is it worth the money to take the submarine excursion in St. Thomas/Barbados? Trying to make up our minds what to to. Sounds like snorkeling on St. Johns Trunk Bay would be better and cheaper. Also on Barbados, sounds like it would be better to rent vehicle and do own tour of island. I hear you have to get a drivers licence in Barbados. Is this tricky? Thanks in advance for advice.

Hi Catherine,
We have gone to Trunk Bay in St. John the last two times we were in St. Thomas, and loved it. I would highly recommend this excursion. I did have a couple of friends who did the Alantis Submerine tour and also loved it. They felt it was well worth the money. As for Barbados we did the semi submersible tour you get to see the fish up close and personal. This excursion also took you on a tour around the island by bus (it makes a complete circle around the island) and stops on the french side for shopping. I would recommend this one as it is cheaper than the submarine and you get to see the same thing. Have fun and happy cruising.

Renting a "Mini Moke" in Barbados is the only way to go! If you have a valid drivers license it only costs $5-10 dollars for a temporary license.....takes about 5 minutes.....have fun Barbados is great!

Thanks for the reply. I read on a Barbados tourism webpage that you have to get the temporary license at a police station. I assume they are easy to find.....Lou wrote:

We would like to know, rather than taking an excursion from the ship. If we go directly to the submarine would it be any cheaper? If so can someone tell me where we have to ask the taxi ti take us to. Sorry this is in St Thomas
