Default Cozumel

Where is the best place to SNORKEL from shore and not too hard to get to from cruise dock in Cozumel? Do not care about shopping or nice sand or food. Just want the best snorkeling, but have to get there and back to cruise ship.
Thanks!!!

I'm not an experienced snorkeller but I greatly enjoyed Chakanaab Park. You can access the water from a lagoon beach or down some steps on the rocks. Thirty feet of crystal clear water and lots of fish. It's just a few minutes cab ride ($10) from the pier and cost $10. Snorkel gear rental is another $10. We spent the whole day there and loved it.

Thats all cool, but if you walk down to La Cieba with your snorkling gear, and just non-chalantly (that doesnt look right) walk through the loby to the incredibly beautiful beach, it will be less expensive, plus there is a sunken airplane just off the beach, in about 30, 40 feet of water that is a groove to dive on.

Worse case. You get busted in the lobby. They will probably only charge you about 5 bucks or less. Maybe nothing. They are really cool peoples.

Good luck, Edgar

Dzul-ha is supposed to be very good. I'm trying it next. Have been to Chankanaab and it's fantastic. Locals say Dzul-ha is better snorkling. Will have to see to believe. It's also free, but they want you to at least by drinks or food.

Although Chanakab was fun, was far from "great" snorkeling... What coral was there was dead... and not very colorfull.

They have a nice little walking rail w/Mayan mockups, lots of lizards, and a pretty good bar... $10 to get in 12-14 to get there via cab... best part is no pestering by vendors.. very subdued...

I know you said you wanted to snorkel from the beach, but the best snorkeling by far in Cozumel (imo) is out at the Palencaar Reef, you have to take a short boat ride to get there, but it is worth it!
