I am sorry youe envelope did not come. I took it to the post office too. Hopefully it will come today. It is raining here today, we really needed it. The only problem is I did not get my yard mowed before it started and it really needs it. Oh well. Another day closer to our fun week. Talk to you later, lots to get done today.
The envelope came today!!!!!! I have the placemat right here beside me, and the picture. Trevor is already trying to score points by doing the "Ivory Liquid" commercial thing--which one is the mother? They look so much alike! That's a compliment!!!!
Our new Activities person officially started in the Skilled Nursing side today. She does have some extensive experience. Our CNA who has been carrying the burden alone for 2-3 weeks is very thankful for the re-inforcement.They work very well together. The CNA is also the new official Activities Associate now, too. The three of us gave each other a "group hug" yesterday and agreed to work together as a team. That really hasn't been the case since I've been there.I'm assisted living and independent, and have been more or less kept away from the other side, I think, by design. That is about to change-among ourselves-if nobody else. We all answer to the same boss. And, it was nice to tell the boss in front of me,before she left tonight , that I am "super duper".
I have posted on the Meet and Greet Thread that Rich has posted to get the ball rolling. He's hoping that some new folks check in that might see the title and take a peek, other than the Roll Call Board.
That's it for now. I'm trying to eat my stew at the moment. And, we're due for a game of Scrabble.. Thanks again for the envelope. It is so neat to be able to "see" each other!!
Lynne, Glad you receved the envelope. Tell Trevor he has made lots of points with me!!! . People always ask me if Angie is my daughter. I guess I should have sent one of her too. You will know her as she looks like me, but younger.
Hope that you won the scrabble game last night.
Had to go get my oil changed in my car this morning and tires rotated. That cost me $189 as I had to have front brakes and the rotors turned. Not good right before the cruise. Oh well won't stop me from going!!!!
I am going to check out the other boards, so I am going to go. I am really getting soooo excited now. Can't wait to meet you guys. They changed our flight time and we don't get in till 12:30 so we probally won't check in until around 1:30 or so, but we will be there after the drill for sure.
Have a great weekend. What exciting things are you doing this weekend? Only in the 70's here in Ohio.
We didn't get around to Scrabble last night, but did tonight and I won for the third time in a row.Trevor was not happy! If he and Angie get into a game I'm sure it will be "cut-throat". He takes no prisioners when he's winning!!
I'm sure we'll recognize all 3 of you!
Having a major job done on your car is not great this close to cruising-or anytime, for that matter! I thought the power on my passenger window was gone,as it wouldn't go up or down for two days. The power lock on the Driver's side is already broken so that we have to go in the back door and push the button up from over the front seat. But, today after work I tried it again, and down it went and up it came when I got home.Weird. There's probably a short in there somewhere.Brenda Buick will be 11 years old in February. She's a La Sabre, Champagne color, and has served us well. About half of our city of retirees owns one just like it--and we bought ours in Dayton!
We're not doing anything special this weekend. I will be the Anthem at church on Sunday, that's about it. I'm waiting for the arrival of my annual birthday check from my father in Toronto so I can go out and start buying some things.
Next Friday night I guess we're going up to the Polynesian Village with my step-daughter and her husband. It's been on the back burner for awhile.Weeks go by without any communication, which has been the case, but now it's a belated Father's Day outing. We have a good time with them-that's not the problem-just that they're very busy with their own family, school, work, etc etc etc.....
The cruise IS getting closer. I can almost smell the ocean air and feel the breeze. I know, I'm not saying anything new, since I have access to it more often than all of you. But, when we've been inland for too long, Trevor HAS to make that trip to the Ocean!
I see that there's a little bit of interest, weatherwise, down southeast of Florida. I hope whatever it is gets it over with before it's time to go.
It' s just about 9PM so I'm going to check the Boards, too. Maybe I'll sleep in tomorrow morning if no alarms have been set!! Take care. Love, Lynne
Hi Angie!! Good for you! Your signature reminds me of a real old song called "Three Little Fishies"!
I got home from church about a half hour ago.Trevor has been talking to me about getting a new computer desk. Our computer stuff is already on a very large desk, bought when we didn't own a computer. Now he wants shelves, more drawer space, etc. That means unloading and moving two bookshelves, one on either side of the desk and moving a file cabinet. He wants me to go with him to look at it at the office supply store, then we'll "probably" eat out. I don't do change very well--just so I have a place for MY stuff!
My solo went OK at church. Some members of the congregation actually clapped. I love the song I sang - "You Raise Me Up" by Josh Grogan.
Trevor finally beat me at Scrabble last night. We played to a tie earlier in the day-I had won the 3 previous games, and then he just had to play another one. He got all the good letters! However, he beat me because he used all his letters for one word, which gave him a good score, then added the 50 points on top of that for using them all. I couldn't recover after that. But, I did have a triple word with a Q,C and K (quack) that got me up much closer and then another couple of scores in the 20's. But, not enough.
We'll have to take the board and tiles with us on the cruise and you two can duke it out!
It's really nice to see that we're down to 55 days. That makes the guys' January cruise that much closer, too. I do believe they've gone incognito on us and are posting under an assumed name! One of the days they'll just have to see what they've been missing!
Hi Lynne, Glad your solo went Ok I am sure they enjoyed it. Angie used to sing in the church choir. Not me.
So did you find a new desk? You know you do spend lots of time there!!!!! It is so fun though.
Not much went on for me this weekend. Went to Spash Moraine yesterday we my neices and nephews. Have you ever been there? I love the lazy river, that is all I do. Don't really like putting a swimming suit on but what the heck, I am getting better. I figure if they don't want to see my big body than don't look. Then last night I went bowling with Angie and her husband, Angie lost, then today cleaned and washed clothes and took a nap. The nap was the best thing!!!!!
Well just thought I would check in. That clock is looking goooood!!!
Yes, we found and purchased the desk.Trevor said to tell you that he's on Step 8 with 28 more to go!! The old Mac will go on the desk I'm typing at now-over in the corner.
I was talking to my younger son a little while ago. I guess he'd been in excruiating pain on Friday and ended up in Urgent Care then the ER in Cincinnati. The short version is that he had a kidney stone. He had a CT Scan given, and introvenous drip with anti-nausea/painkiller in it. The whole treatment time was about 4 hours. He was then given some pain pills and sent home, where he hasn't had a pain since, or the stone!
Now, he has to wait for the bills to see how much his insurance will pay and what he'll have to pay. The outcome will decide whether he'll still be able to come down here the last week in August as previously planned.Talk about timing. We haven't seen him in about 4 years. He'll be 33 years old. His brother will turn 35 two days later. I'll turn ------ on August 23. We're all in the same week!
Change in plan, maybe. This desk will go over by the other wall to keep from having to move out two bookcases. The only thing is that the door won't be able to be opened real wide because the end of the desk will be in the way. But, there are pictures and things stashed behind the door now, so the door hasn't opened overly wide anyway. It's only the two of us,usually, so now biggie. Plus, we can always come in the sliding door on the other wall from the screen room. We have sliding glass doors on our bedroom, the living room wall and this one, so can go back and forth without having to even go through the living room!! We could even take the door off and put a louvered door up in it's place.
I don't like me in a bathing suit, either. I'm in one as little as possible. My picture was taken while I was in mine last year on our cruise and I looked like I had an extra bulge by my right arm because it wasn't up straight. How embarrassing I thought I looked. If there are any pictures taken now, I'll have something at least covering the top. Not to mention that I'm "lily white" because I'm not in the sun much and have always been very fair complected. I've never been to Splash Moraine.
That's it for now. It's already after 8. This ceiling fan is on high and is making me COLD!
Goodnight. Lynne Yes, 54 days and counting looks very good!
Hello everyone...the clock is ticking. I know how your son feels. I have dealt with kidney stones all my life. I have had surgery, laser, lythotipssy, you name it. I have to take meds daily for them. I feel for him.
It was not very nice of you big sister to tell everyone I am a loser at bowling! Maybe I'll have better luck at the casino on the cruise!
I sure Kenneth doesn't have to deal with meds and treatments forever. His last big "illness" several years ago was Hepatitis A. He has bounced back from that. I think he could deal with stones, just not the pain-do you get it every time? A resident of mine suggested he urinate through a strainer to see if anything comes through.
It is supper time. Trevor just called me--I think it's "breakfast" the supper made when there's nothing else planned! I'm looking forward to my breakfasts in the Horizon Buffet on our ship-looking out the windows at the Caribbean Sea. What an image!
I hope I can still bowl! I have the bag, shoes and ball, but we haven't bowled since the local bowling alley closed and I started working. Trevor used to bowl in the Postal League in Dayton for MANY years.
I am typing from the new desk. But the monitor is SO far away now! I was used to it being right in front of me and now it's up on a shelf at a higher level. The Keyboard is on this pull out shelf that can be pushed back in while not in use. I do need to use the piano light, though, because I discovered that I can't see the keyboard without it. I could-but I'd be typing all the wrong letters! I must say, though, if I had this kind of set-up in high school when I had typing class, I could have typed a whole lot faster and could look at the screen and not the keys. However, I'd still have to look at something on a stand to copy from, but----there is a desk area above this keyboard so it could have been put up there by the monitor. Much better on the eyes.
Trevor's main mission was to get this computer back in operation. Mission accomplished. The other desk we were using is now on the side wall, with the old Mac on it. Our sofa bed is stacked with stuff that still needs to be gone through, that he moved when the desk was moved.Stuff that was behind the door, and just things in general. That's another whole project--to see where that will go!
I must admit that he did a nice job of cleaning up the area, and the lower counter just by the kitchen has been freed up by bring the Mac in here. Now we need a place for the music keyboard that has been sitting on the end of the upper counter for several months (sit at stool to play it). He got rid of the box when my step-dad first gave it to me,so now it will have to be just stood up in a corner-collecting dust.
That's it for now. Angie, I'll be looking for your picture!! Hi Ashie!! Lynnie
I'm ready to Cruise!!!
Good morning Lynne, and how are you today? Not going on much here in Ohio. The temp has been in record lows for the end of July. This morning it is only 59, but it is suppose to get in the 80's today. I am very glad it is Thursday. I love having Friday off. Tomorrow I am going to Ashley's rehab. It is her last day. Thay 4 weeks went fast. Now they are going to put her through a work plus program. It is reconditioning and work hardning that will be 6-8 weeks long. Right up till the cruise.
Well tonight at 5pm we will be down to 50 days!!!!!!!!! It does not seem like it has been that long ago that we got under 100. I love how the days are going fast, I just hope they don't do that the 7 days we are on that ship!!!!! I am sooooo ready.
Ashley won 2 tickets to Tim McGraw concert at the Nutter Center. !!!!!! I can go see that body again no problem!!!!
Well I am going to get busy. Don't work to hard
I'm glad it's Thursday, too. That means that my day will be fairly light at work today. The AL Bus Ride will take up a portion of the afternoon. The only thing I have this AM is "Fun and Games" which is turning out to be Bingo, at popular demand. Then nothing big until later this aftenoon.
Yesterday one of the Residents prepared Tarts for my Bon Appetit session at 3, which allowed me to be upstairs with Sing a Long for a change. It was a good hour, as I took up a tape and books with the words to these songs, and the people were told what page to turn to and were led by the voice on the tape. I had the opportunity to gather different people into the Activity, including two men, and then I supported the tape with my voice and ENTHUSIASM!! .
Last night was choir practice. I came home from work pooped, and Trevor was working on this computer/spare room, going through things that had been displaced by moving the desks around. I didn't even come in here because I didn't want to get sucked into sorting MY stuff. He has it neatly piled up! Choir was ok-I got a ride, and we had to come home through an intense thunderstorm. The Lightning BOLTS were really bright. ha ha. Our driveway has a dip at the end before going back out to the street-for flooding purposes so my friend managed to position the car so that I could get out on the grass and not into a deep, wet hole. Trevor will have to see if she ran over the sprinkler.Today calls for more rain. Highs in the low 90's and lots of humidity.
Better run. Congrats to Ashee for getting through the 4 weeks! You're well on your way, Kid!! 50 days will go very quickly! Bye. Lynne
Carol, I'm mailing something to you today so keep checking your REAL mailbox at home.
Gotta go. It's 8:06AM. Boy, the half hour I allot myself on here every morning sure goes fast! Bye. Lynne
We have a couple, Steve (plantocruise) and his wife interested in sharing the car in St. Maarten with us. He emailed me this AM. The first email I've received in a week from anybody, although there's been other "stuff" received.
Good night fellow Bon Girls--Mr.Bon, if you're out there lurking, I hope you have a good weekend.
We didn't go to the Polynesian restaurant after all. Just as we were getting ready to leave son-in-law called to say that our 3 year old grandson wasn't feeling well and that the plan would have to be changed to go somewhere close. Trevor told him that they should stay with him, and we'd take a rain check. (Whoopie! Orlando is a long way to go after a long day at work). So, Trevor and I went to our local Red Lobster and used the gift card that he received from our former son-in-law--father of our granddaughter, Katie, and had a nice quiet dinner. We both had 2 Fuzzy Navels, as it was a 2 for 1 Happy Hour. About the only thing they did was make us tired. I've been checking the Boards in my nightly routine since we got back.
Now, it's going on 10:30 and I'm tired. You know, I haven't seen a Roll Call for Bon and Spook's Cruise. Do you think we should start one? Maybe they would post there!! Bring them out of hiding, maybe? I haven't seen one on the other site's board, either, but haven't checked the third board as yet---maybe they are THERE! Hmmmmn
I must be punchy from tiredness. Talk to you soon. I hope your session went okay today Ashee. Carol, what did you think-since it was the last day?
Hello Lynne, I will be watching my mailbox. Ashley's last day went great. They wanted to keep her. They said she was so positive and wanted to get better. She met every goal they set for her but one. They wanted her pain level down to 2 and she said it stays between 4-5. Overall she is much better. I see her doing more and smiling more. I don't know if that is from feeling better or just knowing the cruise is getting closer!!! . Her favorite resident died today so she is really sad. I keep telling her she has to watch getting so close to them, but she does it anyway. It is so hard not to do, the are all so sweet. This one was on hospice and I told her, but she didn't listen.
I don't know what we are doing in St. Maarteen now. We are booked on the ship tour, but now a jeep sounds fun. I have to talk to Angie some more. The tour is $29 each. It would be cheaper to rent our own car.
I am going to go for tonight. I do wish J-Bon would check in from time to time so we would know all is well.
They told me I was crazy when I told then I couldn't get to "my profile" to put things on my signature to automatically come up. Well they came over and I was right. So putting this stuff in by hand every time is a pain. I am just ready to go on the cruise and then I want the time on board to go slow. Is that too much to ask...I don't think so. Well we are getting ready to go to church, out to eat, and then ride our horses. Hope everyone has a good week!!!!
WELL HELLO GIRLS!!! I'm so glad to see you are all on top of things and still going strong!!! lil_sis are you loged in when you try to get to your profile? at the bottom of this post or the last post you should see "forum list" "view all topics" "threaded view" then you should have the option to log In or Out, if you are loged in you will see "My Profile" as the next option.
Lushes you sound just as Lushes as ever and I think Tim must have set that contest-up so He could see YOU AGAIN hmmmm?
Trouble I'm sorry to hear about your friend / resident you know as well as I that after a certain point they are better off in haven and with us in sprit. I'm glad to hear about your improvements keep going Bon Girl.
Well my Perfect Rose the fearless leader, I'm glad you are on top of things we couldn't do it with out you, I like your idea of a Roll Call I think I'll start one when I'm done hear were do you think would be the best place?
Hate to see you Girls Go but I love to watch your Count Down clock (was that cornie)
Hi There J Bon!
I could tell you were on here right away because your picture changed. Nice view of the St. Thomas harbor, right?? I can never spell it right--Charlotte Amalie? Close.
Our Roll Call is on the first page of cruisemates when you first get on. I've always checked that board before coming to Destinations. I find it interesting that I've seen every Roll Call for cruises except for your date. Now, we also have one on the Cruise C Board-don't know if I can mention it by name, but the word critic is in it, and we've been going back and forth. You should get a lot of action over there. We're up to over 150 posts after a slow start. We are now going between the two to make sure we have everybody covered. If that isn't confusing enough, when I went to the third board for "addicts" I noticed that we had a roll call thread there, as well. So, now I have logins for 3 sites.
I just happened into this organizing thing when a guy posted who needed some info. He's taking his wife as a surprise for their 17th wedding anniversary. So, he's doing all this planning around her, and now making up the list of those of us who checked in on the Roll Call, plus, making name tags for all of us.I'd been anwering his questions as we went along, and all of a sudden, I was named as one of the organizers. It's fun, but like a second job!!! Having said all that, I think it will be great to know people on the ship whether we all hang together for the week or not. Lushes, Trouble, L'il Sister and Trevor and I be on that one tour together, and now Rich and his wife will be joining us.
Another couple said they will share the car ride with me and Trevor in St. Maarten. So,it helps to get a group together.
We have really been missing you guys and hope you and Spook are well. We didn't give up on you but were starting to feel awfully lonely after awhile without even a hello. However, we've hung in there and kept the thread going so we'd be here when you got back.
The other gals will be be sad that they missed your original post, but I'm on here sometimes twice a night, or sometimes from the time I get home from work until late evening. I'm really proud of Ashee with her rehab. And,working in the same type of place I do, I can feel for her losing a resident. It's hard not to get close to them.
Ok, Mr.Bon, Sir, I'm glad you are around and breathing. Let us know how your roll call is going. I will keep checking on it, and maybe give you your first reply to get it started!
Good night. I guess I'll wear a top with roses on it and my Bolts hat that first day--unless our group comes up with a common color. I hope it's red--for Rose!!! Lynnie
Good morning and WELCOME BACK J-BON!!!!!!! It is good to hear from you again, we missed you. How is Spook and what the heck have you guys been up to? Hopefully not trouble!!!
Nothing really going on with me except waiting on that cruise. I am very ready to go and to finally get to meet Lynne. I think I need a more exciting life so I would have something to say. How about that Ashley winning those Tim McGRaw tickets!!!!!!!! She had to sing a Tim McGraw song over the phone!!1 Oh well whatever it took to get to see him again and that BEAUTIFUL body. No, I am not excited or anything. We do not know where or seats are yet, but the radio station said they thought they would be within the first 5 rows. WOW! We were 19 rows back last time.
Well I must get busy and work. I hate Monday's and really hate the beginning of the month. VERY busy for a bookeeper. HAve a good week everyone.
Lynne, received your article today, thanks. You are right, it pumped me up some more. I am so ready. I like saying to people, "I leave next month on my cruise". YEAH!!! Ashley took it to read. She liked the pictures. I think I want to be on that beach tonight in my dreams. I am going to bed early tonight as I did not sleep well last night and I am tired. 4am rolls around very early.
Have you had any good games of scrabble lately? Going to go for tonight. Once again thanks for the info.
I'm glad you like what I sent to you and Ashee. That article was just so neat. Got me in the mood to cruise, as I could picture what could be happening on ours. I was also in port with the Disney Magic so can identify with her and the horn. You've sailed on her too, right? Or, another Disney ship, at least.
It appears that Sue, who will be going on the cruise as we get off, has rented a Jeep for St. Maarten. It looks like you really started something when you mentioned it! That's what we're here for, right?
Trevor got me at Scrabble last night, but I won 3 or so games in a row. So, he got all the good letters and went up 40 points on me when I put my tiles back in during one of my turns to get new ones. I couldn't do much with U's, O's and I's. I could have done the word union, but he took my spot! I hate it when that happens. He was stuck with the Z at the end, though, but by that time it was too late. He won by 69 points. At least he didn't rub it in this time!
That's it for now. I'm going out to play Bunco tonight. Mindless entertainment.
OK, J Bon, I'm looking for your Roll Call!!! Bye. "Rose" Lynnie
Good morning. Yes I have been on the Disney Magic, in August 1998. We were the 4th cruise out when she was brand new. We were suppose to go in June, but the ship was not ready so they gave us a 25% discount and a very nice upgrade. It was very nice, but just not enough land time. We did not get to our resort until 3pm and that was our first day. You only get 3 days on land. We were always on the go to try and get everything in, so we were very ready to relax when we hit that ship. I was on
Carnival Holiday in 1991
Disney Magic in 1998
Carnival Facination in 2002
Norweign ?(can't remember) 2003
Carnival Celebration 2004
Caribbean Princess in 45 DAYS!!!!!!!
I have been reading that sue is renting that jeep. I really want to do that., but I don't . I think we are going to just stayed booked on the tour. We are afraid if one is driving and one is looking at the map we will miss all the beautiful sites. If we go on the tour we are booked on, it gets back around 12 and then we can eat on the ship then go to the beach. Ashley is wanting to rent a wave runner. We have never been on one of those. We better be making our mind up!!!
I'm still apprehensive about the car, too, but our individual tour will be made better, with plantocruise and his wife with us. My only need is to be back on the ship side of Phillipsburg well before the Ship sails. That is the biggest detail that makes me nervous, outside of getting lost, having a flat tire, getting into an accident, .......I worry too much but I AM my mother's daughter. She taught me well!!! Remember our first posts about falling out of the cherry tree (you might break your arm!)
Have a great day. It's 8:05 already. I slept in too long but was having a good but strange dream. A cruise ship was involved. Bye. Lynne
Hi everyone....no even when I log in and it accepts my password and everything I still do not get "my profile" at the bottom. I dare to be different! I guess I don't get on enough to worry about it anyway. It makes the time go faster to just get on every once in a while and see how much the clock has gone down. One more day of work this week and yeah the WEEKEND. We are probably going riding with the horses. It is suppose to be beautiful here this weekend. Hope so. Have a good weekend to everyone. I am ready to kick up some fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Angie
Just checking in . I've been dozing in the recliner all evening. It's 9:20PM and it's time for bed. Trevor had been on here up until a few minutes ago.
I like Mickey, Angie. Good choice.
It won't be long now, Gang.
Hi J Bon, if you're out there. Carol, enjoy your day off tomorrow. How are you doing, Ashee? Spook?
Hello everyone. Thought I would get on to say hey before going to bed. Yes Lynne I had a good day off. It is only in the low 70's here today, in fact I am cold tonight it is only in the low 60's right now. Now usual for Augusat around here ya know. Tomorrow is only suppose to be a high of 77. I have the air off and the windows open. I will give the electric co. a break and save a dollar and spend it on the cruise. Speaking of cruise, when we wake up in the morning it will 6 weeks away!!!!!! YEAH.
Angie, I am so proud of you. You got a picture and the clock all by yourself. Your such a big girl!!!! I knew you could do it. Did Mickey help you? Yes Lynne I knew her picture would be of Mickey. She is Mickey crazy. She must have over 100 in her computer room. Talking telephone, talking light, ect. Dolphins and Mickey.
Lynne, did I tell you that in Nov. 2002 when we were on the facination we swam with the dolphins? The most exciting thing I have ever done. It was AWESOME. That was Angie and Ashley's dream to swim with them. It was great.
Well I am going to bed. Have a great weekend!!
OK, Everybody, we're slipping. I have to get us back up to the top.
It's been kind or rainy and soggy down in these parts the last few days. A storm rolled through again around 1PM today, starting just as I was leaving Walmart. Fortunately, I had taken my poncho into the store with me as the clouds looked like they could open up any minute. It's been sort of drizzly since the major rain stopped. We have a lot of that Spanish Moss looking stuff hanging from our trees.
Have you started shopping for cruise clothes? I'm expecting a check from my father for my birthday so will use that to buy some things, get my hair cut, etc.
J Bon, I've been looking for your Roll Call thread you were starting for your cruise. I haven't seen it yet unless you posted it today. I see you've changed your picture again. You're always keeping us on our toes!
Take care y'all. I hope to hear from you soon. Lynnie
