Cozumel/Chankanaab

Has anyone been to Cozumel/Chankanaab recently who can comment on the effects of the hurricanes?

Also, my husband is a non-swimmer. Will he be ok snorkeling at Chankanaab? He must have shallow, calm water at all times!

The park is still closed. I read where someone was there last week and said there isn't much of it left. The word she used was "devestation."

We went to Paradise Beach when we were there and it is great. It is up and running now. The water is shallow and was quiet when we were there. Maybe that is an option you could consider.

Here is a link to pictures that I took there. (the first 7)

Beach Snorkeling in Cozumel........

I have friends in Cozumel who own a dive op and from what I understand, most of the "shore reefs" are off limits, so that will limit your hubby for shallow snorkeling, unless he plans to us a life vest, then you should book with Eagle Ray Divers and take their 3-reef snorkel package as it is AWESOME and a GREAT deal, too!! I've also done their resort dive package, 2 days and 2 tanks each day ($115 per day) .......AWESOME is all I can say!!! Enjoy and tell Chellie that Suzanne sent you..... LOL

Channunkaab Park is still closed -ruined by the hurricane, keep checking with your TA or here for updates.

If your husband can float with a life vest on then he can snorkel the reefs off Cozumel. We snorkeled Palencaar Reef - amazing., there is this slight current that ever so gently pushes you along, you don' even have to kick your fins to move- maybe something to consider, depending how comfortable he is in the water.

At this point the best place for information on what beachs are open and what they have to offer would be from the Cozumel Tourism board. I don't know the web site off hand, i am sure you could google it and find out.
Mr. Sancho's is a great beach - if it is open.
