We will be heading to Eastern Caribbean on Radiance of the Seas in March. The thing our friends want to do the most is snorkel and see some beautiful fish. We have already booked "Lawrence of Antigua" for a tour with a stop at Turner Beach. My girlfriend is also looking at Pinel Island for snorkeling. After reading the reviews, although nice beaches, neither of those sound like great ones for snorkeling. I know my friends will be disappointed, and this is their first cruise so I really want to find some good snorkel beaches. We will be going to San Juan, St. Johns Antigua, St. Thomas, St. Maarten and Nassau. Can any of you suggest some good snorkel spots? It would really make our trip. Thank you.
You can go to St. Johns when in St. Thomas for good snorkeling. Either a ship tour or take a cab to the ferry and then another cab to Trunk Bay once you are on St. JOhns. Beautiful beach and good snorkeling.
Thank you for your quick response. We are thinking alike. I just went to the St. John website an hour ago and thought this was the best place for us to snorkel. I agree with you and I think we will just take the ferry over and then come back and do some shopping. You have great advice, thanks!
St. John Island has some very good snorkeling. Trunk Bay is the most popular with its marked snorkel trail, however this beach tends to get very crowded and busy. Cinnamon Bay (next door) is a very nice yet rustic beach, not crowded at all, good snorkeling. Honeymoon and Hawksnest are also good choices.
St. Maarten - we did the Golden Eagle Catamaran sail that included snorkeling. The guides feed the fish so there is an abundance of fish to see, not a lot of coral.
