Default shopping in St Thomas

I'll be in St. Thomas in August...can anyone suggest some stores that have some of the best jewelry deals and bargaining potential? Thanks!

Havensight Mall has some very good deals on Gold and Diamonds. I have visited St Thomas many times both by Ship and Timeshare , and have found the Omni Jewlery Store offers excellent jewlery and very fair pricing. There are two Omni Jewlery Stores at Havensight - Don't go to the store on the far right of the mall. I usually go Downtown to Charlotte Amalia Omni Jewlers.
You need to barter - Look at the listed price and make an offer of 35% of the list. I have found that 35% is a good starting ground. Usually you will have to go up a % or two but all in all you should be able to settle at around 37-40% of list price.

We won't be visiting St Thomas this year - we are on a Panama Canal cruise 11/13 - 11/24 07 San Juan to Acapulco on the Island Princess.

Have a nice trip

bartering isn't what it used to be in St. Thomas, especially at the larger chain jewerly stores. I would attend the shopping lecture on board, you will get good information and some deals, you will probably pay more at these stores than if you went to a smaller family-owned business, but the upside to this is that if you buy from a cruise line recommend store, and you register your purchase, if something breaks or goes wrong, you have a recourse for a refund thru the cruise line. If you go to the smaller stores you will have more barganing power but no guarantees if something goes wrong.
