I need honest opinions on Tropicale. I am our reservations without doing much research and it never given any negative information by our T.A. However, after booking the trip I started hearing all sorts of things. I chose Tropicale since it was departing from Tampa and basically that was my only requirements. Have I really messed up? Should I be worried or just make the best of the situation?
Hey, My name is Lori, I live in Tampa. I have just started to research a vacation for my husband and I. I just got wonderful rates for a 4 day cruise on the Tropicale. Something in the back of my mind told me that there was something up with that ship. I remembered hearing on the news last year about one of the Carnival ships having a engine room fire, and also sewage problems. So, I started to do some research. I am sorry to say that it was the Tropicale that had those problems, and now I know why I got such low rates. If you want to check the reviews yourself, I found it on epinions.com.
Check it out, it may be worth your while. I'm sure glad I did. I am not trying to upset your trip, I just want you to be fully informed.
If your loking for a cruise with reasonable rates, you may also want to check into Dolphin Cruise Line. We traveled it twice, and it was great. The only reason we were going to try Carnival is that it goes out of Tampa. Although Dolphin ships were also older, Everything was wonderful.
Anyhow, if you have any questions contact me, if not who knows , maybe we'll see ya on our next cruise.
I have pretty much read the good, the bad and the ugly about the Tropicale. However, I have been reading alot of decent reviews lately. I was told that they have done some renovations. As always a cruise is what you make it. I have read reviews about brand new ships were people still find things to gripe about.
From what I can determine the Tropical is out of Ft. Lauderdale.and is the smallest ship in the Carnival fleet.
I agree with Lori research that the Tropical is due to be retired.
You might look into the Sensation ( 7 day )from Tampa...the ship is twice as big.
we went on the fantasy in april and the tropicale in august
we enjoyed the tropicale a lot more
the ship was as clean as the fantasy
the food seemed to be better
the service was unbeleiveable
they could not seem to do enough for us
will be going on the jubilee 11/18/2000
i know the tropicale is older
but dont let age fool you
hope you enjoyed it as much as my wife and me did
