Liquor policy on Carnival Destiny

I am cruising the Carnival Destiny on Apr 15, 2001. I am trying to find out if you can purchase liquor at the pier in San Juan and take it to your cabin. I know you also used to be able to load up in St. Thomas. Last time I was in San Juan on RCCL, I could buy all I wanted, but I'm hearing Carnival is a little tight.

Keith,

If you want to bring some when you start your cruise, Do not put
it in your "carry on" luggage. When I took the Elation, We put a few cases
of beer in a suitcase that you "check in". They deliver the "check in" luggage
to your room. Your "carry on" luggage is put through the x-ray belt.
They will more than likely take it from you there. There is no guarantee
either way. I'm going on the Destiny 4/29/01. Im going to try the same
thing as I did on the Elation. Good luck!! Save some alcohol for me!!

Hey!
Cruising the same date same ship and can hardly wait. We brought a few little bottles with us when we cruised a few years ago and didn't have a problem but I don't think I'd dare to bring cases. Even though we come from Northern Minnesota and like our beer!! April 15 is coming fast and we are tired of winter........
