We are sailing in January with our toddler, and we will be taking his car seat to use on the plane. However, I'm not sure if we should take it off the ship. For safety reasons, I want to use it on the islands if the taxis/vans have seatbelts. I don't want to lug it onto the islands and not be able to use it if the vehicles don't have seatbelts.
If you have been on these islands (San Juan, St. Thomas, St. Lucia, Curacao, Aruba) recently, please think back to the tours/taxis that you took and let me know if you remember them having seatbelts. If you're going soon, please look while you're there and (if you remember) let me know when you get back! Thanks in advance for the info...

The taxis/tours that we went on in San Juan and St. Thomas had seatbelts, but we were crowded tightly inside the taxi/tour bus and the car seat might not be a comfortable option. Lots of the tours in St. Thomas do use the open air buses which don't have seat belts.
Your best bet is to go to the tour talk on the first day on the boat and then ask questions there. Those people on the ship will be most able to give to the information about what type of vehicles are going to be used. If you are going to book your own tours separate from the ship then just ask while booking.
Hope you find this helpful and enjoy your vacation.
