Default Speaking of the Pride . . . .

Took a trip on the Destiny about 4 years ago. Not that it wasn't fun, but compared to some other lines in the same price range, the service was pretty poor as was much of the food. Communicating with the staff was much harder than on other ships. Even at that time, Carnival was catering to a wider age group & had supposedly improved their food. The heavy drinkers were also much more noticeable. Even the children's program didn't measure up to RCCL's. There was nothing major that went wrong, but we all disembarked with a feeling of , "o.k. We tried Carnival & once was enough." It's been a few years & some friends want us to go on the Pride. What should we expect? After looking at the "poll" section of this sight for the Spirit & her ratings, I am concerned we might find Carnival still not quite measuring up. Our teens want to try it, though (their friends have told them they are allowed in the disco so long as they don't drink alcohol). I'd love to hear some informed/experienced people give an opinion of what we should expect. Has Carnival REALLY changed much?

I have been cruising Carnival for 7 yrs now. One big change is the food. It is better.. more variety. I have never run into the
entire ship being a big ole party. Or anything else that would make me take another cruise line. I think if you expect to compare Carnival to a more upscale cruiseline.. then plan on some dissapointments. I say give them another try... but with an open mind.

Just returned from a Carnival cruise.(Triumph 9-15 thru 9-22.) Just got home after driving 27 hrs staight. Had a terrific time. The food was great and our waiter was fantasic. I'll be writing a review in a few days. Look for it if you're interested.

Thank you both. That's probably what we'll do - just go on ahead & go with an open mind, knowing at least it's a CRUISE! Maybe we will be pleasantly surprised (?).

Sorry to hear about your bad experiance on the Destiny. Mine however was wonderful. I loved the Destiny, everything from our room to the food to the entertainment. I wouldn't travel on any other cruise line.

My husband and I sailed with one of Carnival's older ships,Sensation, and had a WONDERFUL time. I am a Very picky eater and enjoyed every meal. We never ran into anyone who seemed like they had one too many and the staff was great. We have already booked the Carnival Pride for next July and I'm sure you will enjoy this new ship also.

Dear Danielle,
As I mentioned, it was several yrs. ago when we were on the Destiny, & even then it wasn't a BAD experience. Just had a few things . . . But what I wanted to say (& this isn't meant in a critical way at all), do yourself a favor & please don't rule out other lines. Just because you like pizza doesn't mean you wouldn't like lobster, for instance. If asked which was my FAVORITE cruise, I'd have a hard time answering. I've been on l3 of them on 5 different lines & find they all have something to offer. There are some pretty wonderful ships out there & even though you have a wonderful time on Carnival it doesn't mean you wouldn't like another line. Have fun in the future!
